Title IX Appeal Officer is an individual either internal or external to the higher education institution who has been trained and given authority to handle the appeal from Title IX live hearing  between the Complainant and Respondent. 

Title IX regulations require all Appeal Officers to be trained in the rules and practices associated with the institution’s process including how to serve impartially and how to avoid conflicts of interest and bias.

NOTE – Since institutions train individuals for multiple Title IX roles and at each training there will be a Title IX Overview and Process section, attendees should only attend one session of Title IX Overview and Process for 2025-2026 Title IX training.

·         Review of grounds for appeal

Attendees MUST bring their institution’s Title IX Policy to the training.
