Description

Every institution needs to be prepared for campus protests particularly in view of the upcoming possibly contentious federal election in November.  Is your campus ready to respond?  What proactive processes and policies can an institution have in place before an incident occurs.

Our expert presenter will be addressing and discussing the following:

  1. How we got to where we are today in the campus free speech and demonstration debate.
  2. Policy considerations in refereeing conflicts regarding speech and protest activity.
  3. The politics and policy surrounding both permitted and prohibited campus demonstrations.
  4. Best practices before, during, and after a protest.
  5. What to do when things get dangerous, especially for schools who do not have their own campus police.
  6. Post-demonstration recovery – how do we move forward after a demonstration that has divided a campus community?
Presenter:
John Graff, J.D. and Alicia Ward, J.D., - Hirsch Roberts Weinstein
