Housing and Urban Development issued a Memo on 5/22/26 focusing on Emotional Support Animals (ESA) in housing.   U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT WASHINGTON, DC 20410-2000.  This Memo effectively eliminates protection under the FHA for ESAs since HUD has instructed FHEO not to move forward with cases involving discrimination based on not allowing an ESA in housing.
